Bidri is a unique metalware technique found only in India. It is a form of encrustd metalware, where one metal is inlaid on to another. The neauty of bidriware lies in the striking contrast of colours, with the glossy silver inlay being set off by the matt black metal. The craft of bidriwork is believed to have originated in Bidar (Karnataka). It has since spread to other places like Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh). Bidri Art is an art form originated from Hyderabad. The name of this art form has been derived from a famous place Bidar. This place is located close to Hyderabad. Using black colors, surface ornamentation is done in this Bidri art. This color does not get fade easily and are coated with gold and silver coatings.
